Yesterday, CFA sent a vote alert to the United States Senate urging members to vote YES on Senator LeMieux’s Amendment #4300 to the Tax Extenders Package. While CFA still remains opposed to the underlying Tax Extenders package, the LeMieux amendment will lower federal outlays to their 2007 level. This amendment will send a message to taxpayers that Congress is serious about addressing the problem of overspending while also taking tax hikes off the table. From our alert:
With federal expenditures at levels that are both unprecedented and unsustainable,
Congress owes the American people a renewed commitment to fiscal prudence. The 2007
Solution would put in place a legislative mechanism designed to put the nation on a more
sustainable fiscal course; its passage into law would send a strong signal to taxpayers and
constituents that members of Congress are willing to tackle the spending problem head-on.
