pork-barrel spending - the broken windows of the budget
Senator Feinstein is quoted in the Hill today discussing President Obama's pledge not to raise taxes on people earning less than $250,000:
“With the debt and deficit we have, you can’t make promises to people. This is a very serious situation.”
This is exactly why we work to call attention to the rampant spending by Congress and the administration. Conveniently, the Senator neglects to mention that the "debt and deficit" don't exist in a vacuum - they are tangible consequences of the incredible spending spree promoted by herself and her colleagues. Now, instead of focusing on the problem, the Congressional overspending habit, Democrats are calling for tax hikes. Sound familiar?
