Oh, the Irony! It's Sunshine Week, So Let's Push Healthcare Bill Through Without Even Voting On It!?

That seems to be exactly what House Leadership has in mind. Reports The Hill:

House Democrats are marching forward with plans to move the Senate healthcare bill through their chamber without actually voting on it.

The House Rules Committee on Tuesday morning released a memo defending the so-called “deem and pass” procedure, which the memo said has a long precedent in the House and is commonly used.

(...)

Under the process, the Rules Committee would adopt a self-executing rule that would “deem” the Senate bill passed when the House votes on a package of changes to the Senate bill.

The package of changes then will be voted on by the Senate under budget reconciliation rules, which prevent Republicans from mounting a filibuster.

So, after all this talk about transparency, they don't even want to cast a vote on the bill? And how ironic is it that they're looking to proceed on this during Sunshine Week?

Understandably, the House GOP is exploring ways to force a vote on the bill and to stop the "Slaughter Solution," as this scheme has been dubbed.  They are looking to introduce a resolution to force a roll call vote - stay tuned for more.
