Newsmax got an opportunity to discuss the Pelosi-Obama-Reid government spending plan promoted under the guise of economic "stimulus" with South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, who is one of the few governors in the country who has taken a stand against a federal bailout for the states, and the package as a whole.
Gov. Sanford is spot-on when he says:
I think that the great temptation of today’s politics is that you’ve got to do something. In many cases doing something can make a problem bigger.
Asked how he thinks those Members of Congress that are now being target of negative ads for voting against the massive spending package should respond he said:
I’d stand up proudly and say, absolutely right ... I voted against it and here’s why, because that silent majority that makes America great is very much against much of what is coming out of Washington, D.C., these days.
So I would be defiant. I would be proud of where one was willing to stand on that vote. I think it was the right vote.
We do, too, Gov. Sanford, and we hope these members do stand proud, and will continue to oppose this package.
