Kansas: Sen. Tim Huelskamp Introduces Local Spending Transparency Legislation

Thursday, February 5, 2009 6:12 PM Add to Facebook Add to Twitter

Kansas was one of the pioneers of the spending transparency movement at the state level. Now State Senator Tim Huelskamp, who worked closely with State Rep. Kasha Kelley to bring Kansas taxpayers their spending transparency portal with KansasKanView, has introduced local spending transparency legislation.

Says Huelskamp:

“With the successful development of KanView for state government, we are now ready for the next threshold – providing that same level of transparency for the financial activities of our school districts. Kansas businesses and citizens spend nearly $5.5 billion to educate our children – they deserve to know how every dollar is spent.”

Amen to that.
