Over the past few days, we have focused much of our efforts on drawing attention to the dangers associated with the Conrad-Gregg bipartisan commission and pointing out alternatives. However, we would be remiss if we did not point out the good work of our friends at the Show-Me Institute, the Missouri-based free market think tank.
Last week, the organization launched four new online tools enabling Missourians to track, among other things, state spending, employee pay, and stimulus projects. This information, which will be updated weekly, is presented in a user-friendly manner, complete with graphs, charts, and other tools that allow readers to compare data among various government agencies.
Says Audrey Spalding, a staff writer at the Show-Me Institute: “It’s my hope that these tools are an easy way to keep up with what the state is actually doing, instead of the latest political rhetoric.”
We could not agree more and we encourage everyone – particularly Missouri taxpayers – to take advantage of this valuable new resource which nicely complements the Missouri Accountability Portal (MAP) created by then-Gov. Matt Blunt in 2007.
