Our friends over at the Empire Center have updated their transparency portal, SeeThroughNY, to include data on pork-barrel spending to celebrate the one year anniversary of its launch. Since it went live in July 2008, the site has received 1.3 million hits and the addition of earmark spending is sure to peak New Yorkers’ interest. The site allows you to search for your representative so you can look up pork-barrel projects in your hometown. The portal also offers information on state contracts and payrolls and is a great resource for New York taxpayers to track how their money is being spent.
