Good news from Missouri: This week, the Missouri legislature passed transparency legislation that codifies into law the governor’s executive order that created the Missouri Accountability Portal and guarantees spending transparency for Missouri’s future. HB 544 also adds to the information available on mapyourtaxes.gov.
CFA submitted a letter urging elected officials to support HB 544 and we are happy to see it passed.
Aside from making spending transparency a statutory requirement the bill also creates the Joint Committee on Recovery Accountability and Transparency which will be charged with diagnosing the state’s spending habits to prevent waste and fraud.
We hope that Governor Nixon will sign HB 544 soon and are excited that the Missouri Accountability Portal will be available to future generations of taxpayers in the Show-Me State.
