While their number is declining, there are still a few people out there that seem to believe that these spending transparency websites that are currently being created serve no purpose because nobody will actually look at them.
Here's a piece of news that should convince them of the opposite: Gov. Matt Blunt's Missouri Accountability Portal has eclipsed the 10 million website hits mark.
Of course taxpayers care to see how their tax dollars are being spent!
If that number of hits isn't impressive enough, then how about this: The team that developed the MAP recently was awarded the American Business Award - the only national all-encompassing award honoring great performances in business.
Congratulations to Missouri and Gov. Blunt on both counts!
