Majority Leader Steny Hoyer fancies himself quite the comedian. He is quoted today in the Hill mocking Republican Leader Boehner's America Speaking Out idea that all bills be put online for 72 hours before a vote on them can take place. Hoyer, when asked to comment on the idea, jeered: "His hypothetical is so unreasonable...it doesn't bear commenting on."
The hypothetical to which he refers is the one in which Leader Boehner, promoting his 72 hour waiting period idea, said if he was Speaker of the House he would implement such a measure. Given that 83% of U.S. voters want the final versions of bills online, perhaps we shouldn't be surprised that Hoyer deflects with snark instead of trying to defend the opaque and secretive practices of this Congress.
We've witnessed Hoyer's joking attitude about accountability before. Taxpayers, however, aren't laughing.
Keep up the good work, Chuckles.
